Puno Lago Titicaca

Arequipa, known as the White City for its buildings in ashlar (volcanic stone white), is one of the most beautiful historic City of Peru that has received the nomination of cultural heritage of humanity.  The Cathedral, the Monastery of Santa Catalina (almost a small city with streets and squares built to house the daughters of the most distinguished Spanish families who had religious vocation). To observe the famous volcano Misti, you may visit the Yanahuara Lookout and you can visit the Colca Canyon, the valley has a great diversity of flora and fauna in its natural surroundings being  the presence of llamas, alpacas and condors on wild life;   from here you can photograph the condors soar. Being in Arequipa is an excellent opportunity to taste the exquisite cuisine, one of the most popular in the country.
 
 

Day 1.-  Lima

Upon arrival in Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to hotel chosen. Overnight in Lima.
 

Day 2.- Lima – City Tour

City tour to appreciate its most imposing buildings like the Plaza Mayor or Checkerboard of Pizarro, where we will see the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace. Continue visiting the Convent of San Francisco, jewel XVI century architecture. Journey to the modern part of the city, cross the exclusive district of San Isidro, the new financial heart of the city, to appreciate Huallamarca. Finally, we conclude our circuit in Miraflores, where we visit the Parque del Amor, excellent spot to enjoy a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean. Back to your hotel.
 

Day 3.-  Cusco – City Tour – Saqsayhuaman Fortress

Transfer from Airport to the selected Hotel, in the afternoon we will start our visit for Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983 and is undoubtedly one of the most important destinations of Peru. Its cobbled streets and its buildings constructed completely with stone., like the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun where we can appreciate the fine work that the Incas performed on stone and the palace of Inca Roca, with colonial buildings and Andean Baroque style, such as the Cathedral and the Church of the Company with its delicate work and impressive carved wooden altars and the beautiful church of La Compañía. Later we will visit the massive walls of the Sacsayhuaman fortress. A few miles away, are the archaeological sites of Qenko, Pukapukara and Tambomachay.
 

Day 4.- Cusco – Machu Picchu (Lost City of the Incas)

Early morning transfer to the train station to take the train to Machu Pichu, during the trip we will have a breathtaking view of the landscape of the Sacred Valley of Urubamba. On arrival at Aguas Calientes, our representatives will assist you to board the bus that will take you to the citadel. It will be an unforgettable experience. The enigmatic complex of Machu Picchu, the most important and beautiful legacy of the ancient Peruvians, is part of the Historic Sanctuary of the same name, which is one of the few places in America, both Cultural Heritage and Natural Heritage by UNESCO, currently, one of the  New Wonders of the World. It is located on the top of a mountain and complements the exuberant nature that surrounds it, creating a unique place in the world.
In the afternoon, you will board the train back. Upon arrival and depending on the train reservation, our staff will be waiting at the park Ollanta or Poroy, from where we will transfer to your hotel.
 

Day 5.- Cusco – Sacred Valley

This day we will start our tour along the Sacred Valley of the Incas, one hour from Cusco, arrival to the colorful market of Pisac, where we will have free time to interact with the local craftsmen or to purchase fine handicrafts and souvenirs, continue to Urubamba for a buffet lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, visit Ollantaytambo, attractive town of Inca origin with remarkable irrigation waterway and cobbled streets. At the top stands an impressive ceremonial center of cult to the water and a fortress that protected the access to the valley. Ollantaytambo, from where you can take the train to Machu Picchu is another way to get to the citadel by following one of the Inca Trails, a spectacular network of roads that wind through glaciers, rivers and breathtaking scenery. This is one of the best trekking routes in the world, because through it, you find remarkable archeological sites and areas rich in unique species of flora and fauna.
 

Day 6 .- Cusco – Puno

Transfer to Puno (Bus, Train or Flight) This service starts with the reception at the bus terminal or airport of Juliaca and transfer to your hotel in Puno. 
 

Day 7.- Puno - Tour Titicaca Lake, Uros Floating Islands and Taquile

Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Puno main port, where we board a motor boat to the islands of Uros also called "The People of the Lake".  These islands are built with layers of reeds and used as home and trade centers for the natives with the same name that are mobilized in handmade rafts, here we will meet with the natives who will share their ancestral experiences with us.  Then will continue our trip to Taquile Island (2hrs and 30 min boat ride) where the community kindly welcomes tourists, keeping alive their traditions, customs and colorful clothes - the old fashioned way. The islanders are skilled artisans and in each job is applied  their ancestors’ techniques developed over the centuries . Then began a walk (20-30min) by stone paths, ascending to the village where the natives find somewhat shy but very laborious. These people happy and proud of their culture and of their origin invite us to appreciate the beauty of the landscape on the immensity of Titicaca Lake. At noon we take for lunch the delicious food provided by the natives. Later continue the walk around the island exploring its streets and observing their stone and adobe houses in contrast with nature. Return to Puno.
 

Day 8.- Puno - Arequipa

At appropriate time you will be picked up from your hotel and go in our mobility towards Inca necropolis (Sillustani), 50 min travel.  It has the famous Chullpas, circular burial towers built in stone, reaches 12 meters high and was used by the Collas and the Incas. Then tour the site walking slowly, down the path, seeing the huge stone towers built by the Incas for its Funerals and finally reaching the top to appreciate the Umayo lagoon that offers a wonderful landscape. Then continue the trip to the airport (50 min) take your flight to Arequipa transfer from airport to the selected hotel. (To Arequipa can go by Airplane or Bus)
 

Day 9.- Arequipa – City Tour

For the Afternoon City Tour and visit to Santa Catalina Monastery.  The tour will start with a visit to the Lookout where you could appreciate in all its imposing figure at three volcanoes surrounding the White City of Arequipa: Misti (5,800 meters), Chachani (6,000 meters) and Pichu Pichu (5,300 meters) as well as the beautiful countryside with its terraces. Then you will come down to visit the main square, church and cloisters of traditional colonial Yanahuara district, with its wide streets and typical houses made with the typical white ashlar stone and volcanic tuff which is the reason why Arequipa has the nickname of "White City". Continuing the tour you will go through the  historic town center, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site,  then to the Convent of the Society of Jesus erected by the Jesuits, the highest expression of religious architecture which highlights its church (1573) with arches carved in ashlar, typical white volcanic stone. Finally we visit the Monastery of St. Catherine (1580). Overnight at the Hotel.
 

Day 10.- Arequipa – Colca Canyon (B)

Excursion to Chivay. We begin our journey to Yura, where we observe the natural and cultural landscape of the area, then go around the volcano Chachani and pass by the National Reserve Salinas to appreciate the natural habitat of the most famous South American camelid vicuña. Continuing the journey along the way will make a short stop at Patahuasi – a town in the top of the mountain –n home on top) to enjoy a cup of coca tea. Immediately, continue the journey to the wetlands where we will observe different species of birds both local and migratory,  according to season, then continue until Patapampa, the highest point of the journey located at 4800 m approx. also known as the Andes Lookout, here you can see different volcanoes as Mismi, Hualcahualca, Sabancaya Ampato, Ubinas and Chachani.
 

Day 11.- Cruz del Condor – Arequipa (B)

After breakfast we take the direction to the Mirador de la Cruz del Condor, where you can observe the majestic flight of the condors and the depth of the canyon (one of the most depth in the world). Returning to visit the towns of Chivay Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque Achoma, you will observe group of dancers , colonial churches and terraces.
 

Day 12.- Arequipa – Lima (B)

Transfer to the airport to take your flight to Lima to connect with your international flight.
