The Inca Trail is by far the most famous trek in South America and is rated by many to be in the top 5 treks in the world. In just 26 miles (43km) it manages to combine beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the trail just cannot be beaten: Machu Picchu, the mysterious "Lost City of the Incas".
Although there are literally thousands of kilometres of "Inca Trails" throughout Peru, On the Classic 4-day Inca Trail trek that starts at km82 (82 kilometres along the railway from Cusco to Aguas Calientes) and treks high up into the mountains passing the Inca ruins of Llactapata, Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca and Wiñay Wayna before finally arriving at Machu Picchu for sunrise on the 4th day of the trek. Day 1.-  Lima

Upon arrival in Lima, reception at the airport and transfer to hotel chosen. Overnight in Lima.

Day 2.- Lima – City Tour

City tour to appreciate its most imposing buildings like the Plaza Mayor or Checkerboard of Pizarro, where we will see the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and Archbishop's Palace. Continue visiting the Convent of San Francisco, jewel XVI century architecture. Journey to the modern part of the city, cross the exclusive district of San Isidro, the new financial heart of the city, to appreciate Huallamarca. Finally, we conclude our circuit in Miraflores, where we visit the Parque del Amor, excellent spot to enjoy a splendid view of the Pacific Ocean. Back to your hotel.

Day 3.-  Cusco – City Tour – Saqsayhuaman Fortress

Transfer from Airport to the selected Hotel, in the afternoon we will start our visit for Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983 and is undoubtedly one of the most important destinations of Peru. Its cobbled streets and its buildings constructed completely with stone., like the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun where we can appreciate the fine work that the Incas performed on stone and the palace of Inca Roca, with colonial buildings and Andean Baroque style, such as the Cathedral and the Church of the Company with its delicate work and impressive carved wooden altars and the beautiful church of La Compañía. Later we will visit the massive walls of the Sacsayhuaman fortress. A few miles away, are the archaeological sites of Qenko, Pukapukara and Tambomachay.

Day 4 .- Cusco - Inca Trail (Piscacucho - Wayllabamba) (L – D)

Very early in the morning we will pick you up from your hotel to transfer you by bus to the km 82 where we will arrive at 11:00. We will meet there the members of the staff who will join us for the trek, porters, cooks, etc. Then the trekking begins, this first day is pretty easy the first kilometers. We will have a beautiful view of the Veronica glacier and we will walk near Vilcanota River until we get to the archaeological complex of Patallacta. We will have lunch and rest before continuing to Huayllabamba where we will set the first camp.

Day 5 .- Inca Trail (Wayllabamba - Warmiwañusca - Pacaymayo) (B – L – D)

After breakfast, the hardest part of the trail begins because we will reach the first step called Warmiwañusca up to 4200 m.a.s.l. You will enjoy incredible panoramic views of the mountain chains of this area. After lunch, we begin the way down towards Pacaymayo valley where we will set the second camp.

Day 6.- Inca Trail (Pacaymayo - Phuya Patamarka - Wiñayhuayna) (B – L – D)

Early in the morning, only after a 30 minute walk, we will fin the archaeological complex of Runkurakay. At his point we will see the inca trail is completely covered with stones and some places it is up to 2 meters wide. We will see Inca architecture; we will visit Sayacmarca, a beautiful complex. We will also go through a tunnel to reach the archaeological site of Phuyupatamarca.
Then, we will continue the way down through an interesting path, covered with dense vegetation of the rainforest, very rich in plants and animals. Two hours later, we will arrive to Wiñayhuayna where we will set the third night camp.

Day 7.- Inca Trail (Wiñayhuayna) - Machu Picchu – Cusco (B)

Very early, we will begin walking to get to the Intipunku (Sun Gate), from where we will be able to see the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Around 08:00, we will have a guided tour of the citadel (a duration of about 2:30) visiting the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Solar Clock, the Royal Quarters, the temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries.
Free time to stroll around the citadel. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon or in the evening (depending on available schedules and train category), return by railway and road transport to Cusco. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.

Day 8 .- Cusco – Lima 

Transfer to Cusco airport to connect with your international flight.
